Hi everyone, Just wanted to fill you in on the latest happenings with the Bike Shop. You may have noticed it looks a bit bare at the moment. We had been planning to move to a new site a few doors up Moggill Rd in the old Commonwealth Bank building - the new shop had just been completed early this week ready for us to start our fitout, and we had planned moving in mid-October. However on Tuesday this week, our landlord informed us that we were to quit the premises by midnight that day, threatening to change the locks if we had not vacated. Because the landlord had previously not given us the required notice that she was not going to renew our lease, we were within our rights to remain up to six months beyond this date. However she and her lawyers refused to acknowledge this, forcing us to either undertake costly litigation or move out. Thanks to all the wonderful people who came at such short notice and worked so hard all day to move every item from the shop in about nine hours! And thank you to all those who had already offered to help us for when we were going to move - we really appreciated your support, but we didn't have much time to contact anyone - lucky it was school holidays this week, because all the kids that came were a great help! So now we are at 2071 Moggill Rd (at the pedestrian crossing opposite Kenmore State School, right beside The Local Bean Espresso Bar), but we still have to complete the fitout - we're hoping that we may be able to open for some trading maybe Tuesday next week. Our phone lines will not be moved until Tuesday afternoon. So for any enquiries, you can ring John's mobile 0414 064 013 We will be retaining the same phone numbers: tel 3378 0288 & fax 3378 0411 Parking: we have a few parks directly behind the shop, and there are plenty in the big carpark next to that. There is an easement/driveway from our carpark up to our front door. Thank you for your support and we apologise for the inconvenience caused to anyone over this difficult time, but we will be up and running as soon as we can, with a bigger and better shop, and the same great service! ROAD - We're getting good numbers on the road rides at the moment it and seems to be getting bigger every week.Any club member who do other regular training rides or looking for more riding partners could email other riders on the list, with start time/ location, distance , av speed etc. Often people ask me if I know of any other rides on at different times.
MTB- Some rides are getting good numbers others not so good . I often get text messages to see if the rides on, if I'm doing the ride it's ok I know the ride is on .( I also chicken out very quick if looks wet)But if I cant ride I cant be sure if anyone is riding. It might be a good idea to email others on the list if you want to do a ride. Sometimes people don't go because they think no one will be there. Also ask John Forbes, a lot of riders confirm with him about WED night ride and SAT afternoon ride while their in the shop. |
